Oscar complete

I actually finished Oscar a few days ago now, but didn't want to post it until the recipient had collected the drawing. With that done, here he is! The blue belton markings make this a nice dog to work on in graphite.

Size approx 11.5x15.5"

hi
Wonderful drawing, he looks really soft. The vignette style works brilliant

what percent of your drawings are blended?

Andrew, I rarely blend. The only part of this drawing that could be classed as 'blended' is the body of this drawing. I actually apply the graphite using kitchen roll to achieve the faded, out of focus effect. I find blending lightens dark tones and dulls down lighter tones

Beautiful work! There are so many different hair textures, and they're all so well done.

thanks nolon I don't blend because it takes away from the texture of the paper and is not good for detail, and makse your drawing imposable to earase.I like to build up my texture in layers.

Hi,

I’m Brenda’s daughter and I’ve just come home and seen the drawing for the first time and I just wanted to say it’s a lovely picture. It’s amazingly lifelike and you’ve captured his look completely, just as I remember him. Needless to say mum is over the moon .
