Completed with STILE!!

We are finally done with this one. The finished piece is 36x27cm on Bristol Board, and took about 60 hours to complete.

2 updates in one day!!

I moved ahead quite far with this today, so thought I would post a second update.

The grass is in, the sheep have appeared, so there is just the wall to complete. I will be returning to book work after this, so it will be back to cats for a couple of weeks.

I should be posting the finished piece tomorrow (assuming I have no distractions)

Getting there!

Still going on this one. I needed a bit of a break from the dry-stone wall, so I thought I would get some of the background in. I can't avoid it for much longer though, so I had better get my stone drawing pencil out again!

Still knocking the stones out!

Not much progress to see here, but then this is the toughest and slowest part of the drawing. This is still showing less than half of the entire piece, but as the rest of the paper is blank, there isn't much point in showing it yet.

I am drawing around the blades of grass that are closer to the stile. There will be more, but the grass that is closer to the viewer will be blurred slightly, so it is easy enough to erase those later.

I'm going to be back on the book drawings tomorrow, so I may not get an update of this one for a couple of days, but I will try to get a few hours done.

Continuing up the Ladder

After such a long break from updating the blog, I thought I had better get another update in. Not too much more done, but i'm working my way down the very time consuming wall and blocking in the background.

Ladder Stile

As I think I mentioned in my last post which was month ago now, I am in the middle of work for my second book released through Walter Foster Publishing in the US. Because of this, all of the drawings I am currently working on cannot be posted yet.

After a couple of weeks of drawing just cats, I needed a break, so I have returned to a drawing I started about 4 months ago. This is the third in my collection of Stiles. This one sees a Ladder Stile from the Yorkshire Dales. I am about 10 hours into this one already, but this only shows about a 6th of the drawing, so there will be much, much more to go.
